Ok so my summer was rough but I got a lot out of it, I guess. One of the things that happened to make the summer so rough was that we had a staff member from England go out drinking with another staff member from Wales and one from Texas. They ate dinner, had some wine, and then the shots began or whatever happened. The 3 of them came back drunk but the girl from England almost didn't survive. She was found on the lawn with her face in her own vomit. The RN and one of the lifeguards carried her up to the office porch, the lifeguard ran down and got me, then called the camp director. Camp director called 911 and waited for the ambulance to arrive.
Meanwhile we have the girl on a chair and she's having what we thought were seizures because she'd tense up and then relax, foaming at the mouth, and the way that she was acting was pretty scary. We took turns holding her head and bringing her forward to vomit so that she wouldn't faceplant into the porch and end up with more problems. This went on for what seems like an eternity. The RN went back and forth checking on the girl from Texas.
When they finally got her into the ambulance, the RN went with them. She said the scariest thing was that they couldn't get her to rouse or respond even with pounding on her chest as hard as they did. With an iv in her she started to come around because she was very dehydrated.
At the hospital they stuck tubes up her nose to pump her stomach. Her blood alcohol content was .316, which is the highest that a lot of people have ever heard of. This is what had been absorbed and doesn't include what she threw up.
So who had to clean this mess up? I had some help but did quite a bit of it myself. It wasn't peasant. A lot of us said that we got contact drunk because the smell was so strong. Unfortunately for this girl and the girl from Texas, they were both fired because they couldn't perform their unit duties when they came back on duty.
I'm not against people drinking. But this is one of the reasons why I'm so against binge drinking and people who just have no idea when to stop. We almost lost a friend and family member that night. She's now doing well but if she hadn't been found in time, we would've been having a memorial service and sending her home to her family in a coffin.
So think before you drink. Know what your limit is and when enough is enough.

Oh and btw, I'm also not so thrilled that there are certain whiney people who are exploiting mental illnesses and using those illnesses as an excuse for their behavior. As a clinician (therapist), it's my job to provide feedback and be tough on some clients who just aren't "getting real" and claiming responsibility. Many people who have mental illnesses who aren't taking their medications properly or their medications aren't working properly require some time in the hospital to get their medications fixed so that they don't hurt themselves or someone else. It is most important that if the person cannot function and take care of their basic needs or they're hurting themselves that they need to be hospitalized.
However, when people come onto a public forum spitting out grandiousity after grandiousity and I have bipolar disorder yadda yadda yadda and continue to be beligerent and illogical, then you should know that there is something wrong. Not taking responsibility and continuing to carry on and on is not a good thing, especially on a public forum. Then after all is said and done the person feels wronged because they've been "attacked" by everyone and the original topic has been lost and the person is deemed unstable.
The problem is that there is no moderation, the original poster starts to whine and bury himself/herself deeper and deeper and goes crying to an administrator to lock and/or delete the thread. Personally I think it's wrong. Lock yes, delete no. Let the person be embarassed about his behavior, maybe it'll wake him/her up! That's why we have clients journal when they're in treatment, so that they can go back and reflect on what happened and how they've grown as a person.

Clearly people are too lazy to do the research to begin with, ask for help, are pointed in the right direction and still refuse to do the research to find the solution to the problem. I do my own major research, I shouldn't have to do everyone else's too.
1 comment | Log in to comment! | Share this!Ok so the project that we were doing has dissolved. No one really has the time to do anything and after nagging and nagging about it, I just don't want to deal with it. I'll probably eventually use the domain for something but it's very likely that I'll just let it expire. This makes me sad but I'm over it.
So I started my practicum. I'm playing therapist and I'm exhausted. Plus I still have homework and actual work on top of it. The class that they make us take is really rediculous! Regular universities have you go and present a case to the class and you discuss and get feedback. My university makes us continue our research and they have us jumping through hoops. It's crazy! I don't feel like I'm doing well in the class because of this and the other reason is that I'm too damn tired to want to come home and motivate myself to do homework. They have us discuss the stupidest things too. The shit they make you do to get through this is just frustrating. Oh well!
1 comment | Log in to comment! | Share this!Ok so we lost some writers for our project. If you're interested in web design & web programming (XHTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, etc.) and can write great articles, then we're looking for you.
If you're interested, PM me with an example of your work (portfolio, etc.) and a writing sample utilizing a subject on web design and/or web programming that you know about that you would like to people to know about.
We're looking for some who will commit to writing an article or two every month. We'e also looking for guest writers who don't want to commit to every month but would like to write an article every other month or so.
Another position that we're looking to fill is for a graphic designer. We need to spruce our project up and keep it looking fresh every month. If you're interested, please PM me with your portfolio.
Once you have been accepted, you will then be provided with the link to join our crew forums and jump right into your first assignment.
Note: This is not a paid position but it is our hope that through this project that some of us might get some work out of it or become recognized in the design and programming community as a leader for excellence in the field. It will also give you good experience if this is the field of study that you're interested in. We're mostly also doing this for fun and want to share whatever knowledge we have on the subjects discussed. Serious inquiries only please.

We're not ready to announce the project's name and address yet because things aren't quite done yet but we're getting there.
1 comment | Log in to comment! | Share this!Ok so it seems as if I may not be working on phrazzle because I haven't talked to Josh in forever (he was sick) and at this point I could care less.
Onto the other project, the other project is doing fine. We're dealing with the snags as they come, which has been happening quite a bit lately. I still can't give any insight into what we're doing but it's Dearon, Relish, Dan (maybe), King, and myself. We could use some more people, like a logo/graphics designer. If you're interested, you can PM me but I would rather you come onto IRC and chat with us.

Wow so I'm now involved with another project that I haven't really committed to yet. It appears that I will be working with the "famous" Josh Bend (maybe) on his project http://www.phrazzle.net. I'll be writing articles. However, when I announced this to a select few, some were like "I thought you were against drugs." My response was, "illicit drugs yes, but this will also help me research these drugs further and the chemicals involved including what the chemical does, how it works, etc." This research will help me while doing psychotherapy with those who are addicted and have mental health disorders. It may in fact help me decide what I want to do for my Clinical Psychology Masters project.
The other project that I'm working on is still in the works, it's going well (or so I've been told). I haven't really been able to see results yet since the backend hasn't been completed yet and the layout is going very slowly. I keep hounding the person who is making the layout because things need to be done in order to be changed to the way that we all want it. Once the project is completed and ready for launch/promotion the site will be shared. Right now we only have a domain, which is pointing to our work forums where we post all of our project information, which is why I won't share the domain, name of the project, or the details. Once things are locked down and secured then I'll blab :) This is something I am excited about, so I can't wait for it to launch!
